Community Art Night: First Friday Event, August 1

Friday, August 1 from 5:30-8:30pm: Positive Space will host the Community Art Night project for children and adults. This will take place at the Positive Space Sculpture Garden in Fishtown at 2012-2018 Frankford Avenue, which is between Norris Street and Susquehanna Avenue.
This comes on the heels of our Neighborhood Sign Project during the Trenton Avenue Art Festival.
Fifty-five (55) of these signs are dispalyed on our recently installed gateway of the garden.
Refreshments will be provided by the Fishtown Neighbors Association: http://fishtownlife.com/
Andrea W. Silva and Valeria Kremser have volunteered to run and will work with children and adults to draw a chalk art mural and arts & crafts. Other Positive Space members will be present to assist
Artists are invited to set up a table and sell their wares for an Arts & Oddities Sale. Space is allocated on a first come first serve basis. A donation of five dollars ($5.00) is requested to do so.
A similar event took place on Saturday, June 28, which was heralded as very successful community participation.
Looking to see you, the families and children on Friday, August 1, 2008. A splendid time is guaranteed for all.
Sincerely,
Positive Space Board Memeber
Nick Silva

Neighborhood Sigh Project Installed

Neighborhood Sign Project
Here is the result of our successful community project at the Trenton Avenue Art Festival where our neighbors participated in the Neighborhood Sign Project.
Fifty-five (55) signs are now installed at the gateway into the Positive Space Sculpture Garden. One such sign said it all: Together We Are Growing.
Near by residents, Frankford Avenue business proprietors and several people passing by in their cars and on foot expressed praise and support for the work in turning this lot into something beautiful.
Please join to help finish the work and to fulfill the vision. Please contact us at: positivespacephila@gmail.com
Peace and best of wishes from the members of Positive Space.

Not bad for Two weeks of prep!

The latest PositiveSpace event has come and gone without a hitch; with a very good turnout for an event on such a short notice. Thanks go out to Matt for organizing and coordinating this event, and for all his help installing the Neighborhood portrait project structure. Please vote in our poll whether you’d like to see more fleamarkets this summer on the PositiveSpace Lot!

How often would you attend a flea market on the PositiveSpace Lot?

  • I could make a monthly event. (100%)
  • I’d be there weekly. (0%)
  • Sorry, I’ve got a crazy schedule already! (0%)

Saturday June 28, 2008 at Frankford & Norris Streets

Come out to the PositiveSpace Lot this Saturday for a Free Market / Flea Market. See all the good stuff that’s being made by local artists, comb for flea market deals, or get a nifty new hair cut.
While you’re there be sure to check out acoustic performances and some awesome bicycle sculptures. Speaking of sculptures; this will be the first weekend where you can see both the neighborhod sign project installed, as well as that sweet tank sculpture.
Vendors are still welcome, and this time by donation - all contributions go to maintain the scultpure garden
